NetPrep® for Community Colleges
The objective of NetPrep for community colleges is to either introduce students who have completed NetPrep at the secondary level to more advanced topics in networking at the community college level or to introduce community college students who are new to networking to the NetPrep curriculum.
The curriculum for NetPrep at the community college level consists of eight complete semester-long courses with specialization, leading to an Associate of Arts degree. These courses include:
- Networking Fundamentals
- Local Area Networks
- Wide Area Networks
- Network Architectures
- The Internet
- Internetworking Devices and Concepts
- Protocol Analysis
- Design and Management of Enterprise Networks
Upon completion of the eight courses, students will be eligible for fully independent, industry standard certification. 3Com's NetPrep is the only training program of its kind that offers such certification. Upon completion of these courses, a graduating student should be prepared for a career in MIS management, or for professional network management training toward 3Com's Master of Network Science Program.
NetPrep® for Secondary Schools
The objective of NetPrep for secondary schools is to introduce students to the basics of networking and prepare them for more advanced study after graduation from high school.
The curriculum for NetPrep at the secondary school level will consist of four areas covered over four semesters. These areas will include:
- Networking Fundamentals
- Local Area Networks
- Wide Area Networks
- Network Architectures
Upon completion of these four courses, students will be eligible for independent industry standard certification. NetPrep is the only network management training program of its kind that offers such certification. Upon completion of these courses, a graduating student should be prepared for a career in entry-level MIS, or post-secondary technology training.
